Sam Seaman-- a slice of reality

Sam Seaman has been a painter for nearly 4 decades.  Born in England, Seaman has spent the past 3 decades as a Mexican citizen and most importantly as one of its most esteemed interpreters of Mexican life.  As a disciple of the same teachers who taught David Hockney, Sam’s paintings can be referred to as Minimal Realism.  They are painted with meticulously smooth strokes and are characteristically filled with light so that the scene isn’t overwhelmed with detail.  His images are expansive even in their most reduced dimensions and offer the viewer a near abstracted, basic understanding of the spaces in which they unconsciously move and dwell.

Galeria/Atelier will be hosting a cocktail reception for Mr. Seaman Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 6-9 PM.  Please join us.
